Seeking a dedicated, creative and flexible individual to join the Santa Fe County’s professional Planning team. The Community Planner will collaborate on a variety of planning projects, facilitate community planning processes, implement community plans, and represent the County at public and community meetings.
Under general direction, performs professional planning work by providing analysis and preparation of planning and zoning agendas, staff reports and backup materials; provides supervision and work direction to Planner I and may provide work direction to other subordinate planning staff in the preparation of agenda items and other daily activities. Researches and develops community and neighborhood planning projects and major plans and projects. Conducts research and development in various areas of planning such as land use studies, planning and zoning law, impact analysis, transportation planning, subdivision development, demographic and economic studies and similar project assignments.
As a planner, you will provide support for project management and planning work through assisting with projects focusing on planning policy. This role involves guiding and tracking projects in the planning phase; growing your technical skills by achieving team goals in conjunction with all team members and the direction of the planning director; providing project specific planning services such as, comprehensive planning documents, master plans, zoning documents, and active transportation plans; engaging in strengthening relationships with clients by maintaining planning standards, best practices, and procedures; contributing to the firm through promotional and strategic efforts of the organization.
As a Senior Urban Planner, you will lead project management and planning work. You will develop projects focusing on planning policy and be integral to building a planning service within a civil engineering firm. Having experience in authoring, managing, and directing a wide range of planning and zoning activities is critical. These activities will include comprehensive plans, downtown plans, corridor studies, neighborhood plans, zoning ordinances, active transportation plans, and other related studies.
