The City of Casper is seeking an engaged, collaborative planner to join our Planning Division. Whether you're beginning your planning career or bringing extensive municipal planning experience, you'll have the opportunity to influence the growth and development of one of Wyoming's most vibrant communities.
As a Planner, you'll work on a wide variety of projects involving land use, development review, zoning, floodplain management, GIS mapping, and long-range planning initiatives. You'll collaborate with developers, citizens, elected officials, and City departments to help ensure responsible, sustainable growth throughout Casper.
What You'll Do
As a Planner, you'll contribute to a broad range of planning and community development activities, including:
• Researching, analyzing, and preparing reports and recommendations related to land use, zoning, and community development
• Reviewing development proposals for compliance with City ordinances, regulations, and planning objectives
• Preparing ordinances, resolutions, Municipal Code amendments, and legal agreements
• Coordinating development review with City departments and outside agencies
• Managing multiple development projects through the review and approval process while communicating timelines and project status with applicants
• Reviewing floodplain, zoning, subdivision, site plan, conditional use, variance, vacation, and building permit applications
• Creating GIS maps, charts, and exhibits for public meetings and presentations
• Providing technical guidance to developers, property owners, consultants, and the public regarding planning and zoning requirements
• Serving as staff support for the Planning and Zoning Commission, City Council, and other boards and committees

• Knowledge of planning principles, land use regulations, and development review processes
• Experience researching, analyzing, and interpreting technical information
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with or the ability to learn GIS mapping and spatial analysis
• Strong customer service skills and the ability to build productive working relationships
• Sound judgment, professionalism, and a commitment to public service
