Director of Community Development

The Town of Springdale, gateway to Zion National Park, is seeking an experienced, collaborative Director of Community Development to lead planning, zoning, economic development, and regional coordination in one of Utah’s most distinctive communities.

This senior leadership role reports to the Town Manager and oversees long-range planning, development review, code enforcement, floodplain administration, grants, and economic development strategy. The Director supervises professional planning staff and serves as a key advisor to the Town Council and the Planning Commission.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead comprehensive and long-range planning initiatives

• Oversee land use applications, permitting, and zoning compliance

• Implement the Town’s economic development strategy

• Coordinate regional partnerships and intergovernmental efforts

• Manage department budget, staff, and consultant contracts

• Identify and administer federal, state, and private grants

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree in urban planning, public administration, or related field

• Six (6) years of progressively responsible professional experience

• Or equivalent combination of education and experience

• AICP certification required within one year of hire

Salary Range: $105,701 - $134,769 annually
