Planning Director
Gilliam County is looking for a Planning Director. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the County’s future by leading planning activities and development. Under the direction of the County Judge, the Planning Director serves as a key part of the County’s management team, and will provide overall management and administration for planning, implementation, and coordination of short-and long-term community development programs.
The ideal candidate should have demonstrated renewable energy and landfill project expertise, knowledge of Oregon land use codes, project management experience, and a strong appreciation of Gilliam County’s unique attributes. A leader with the ability to effectively communicate with coworkers, community members and stakeholders.
Gilliam County is in North Central Oregon, is bordered on the north by the Columbia River and the west by the John Day River and offers easy access to rich natural environments and outdoor recreation activities.
Preferred residency is Gilliam County, Oregon.
The Planning Director position requires a bachelor’s degree in planning, geography, community development, environmental studies, or related field, and at least three years of progressively responsible experience in planning. Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience which ensures the ability to perform the essential functions of the position will be considered.
Compensation is $75,229 - $89,759 annually, depending on qualifications plus excellent benefits.
