Cascade Surveying & Engineering, Inc. has been a respected firm in Arlington, Washington for over 50 years, providing services centered in Snohomish County. We are looking for a dedicated, self-motivated Land Use Planner. The position will collaborate with surveyors, engineers, and local jurisdictions in a supportive, fulfilling work environment to provide quality services and products to clients.

Requirements:

Sufficient knowledge and ability regarding land use planning, such as:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of experience in land use planning/related work OR Extensive work experience in land use planning or land development activities

  • Knowledge of and ability to work with Code requirements and Comprehensive Plans of relevant Governmental Authorities

  • Ability to interpret and write legal descriptions

  • Ability to communicate and work well with clients, review agencies, and members of the Survey and Engineering Departments

  • Ability to independently manage multiple projects, adapt to project needs, and meet deadlines with reliable efficiency

  • Must have the ability to perform comprehensive research, analyze impacts, and summarize key issues in writing

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and Microsoft Office and Teams

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately perform research into zoning, property, and municipal codes

  • Prepare, organize, and submit land use applications and required materials for subdivisions, zone changes, conditional use permits, and site plan reviews

  • Assess project needs and feasibility, to help clients define and develop their goals

  • Develop and present proposals to potential clients

  • Maintain effective relations with clients, through effective and efficient communication

  • Collaborate with Engineering and Survey team members, as well as Permitting Agency staff to facilitate efficient workflows

  • Create, organize, and maintain project schedules
