Job Opening: Regional Planner / RTPO Planner

Job Opportunity: The Mid-Region Council of Governments (MRCOG) seeks an entry to mid-level planner to assist with the development and coordination of rural transportation and land use planning projects within the Middle Rio Grande Region (Sandoval, Bernalillo, Valencia, Torrance and Southern Santa Fe counties).

Duties:  Duties include, but are not limited to: overseeing the Regional Transportation Planning Organization (RTPO) Program; engage in strategic long-range transportation planning initiatives; conduct regular data collection and analysis as it relates to land use and economic development activities; engage in local government project development activities; provide technical assistance to local governments; provide strategic planning expertise for other land use planning activities.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, 2+ years of experience in planning or a related field. Master’s degree may substitute for two years of experience. Good interpersonal communication and presentation skills. Ability to engage in technical writing activities such as grant writing and reporting. Ability to engage in data collection and critical analysis. Basic understanding of General Planning Practices, Principles and Procedures. Basic skills in Adobe (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and GIS.
