DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Under the general direction of the City Administrator, the Planning Director performs a variety of planning and land-use related activities including supervising the 4 Department employees, development review, code compliance, departmental budgeting, and coordinating and directing the day-to-day operations of the City’s Planning Department. In addition, the Director oversees administration and enforcement of the City's Comprehensive Plan, Zoning Ordinance, subdivision regulations, Historic Preservation Regulations and Design Guidelines, Parks, Open Space, and Trails Master Plan, the Sign Ordinance, and review of Property Improvement Permit applications. The Planning Director and staff actively engage the community on planning matters. The Planning Department observes and promotes principles and policies related to sustainability and resiliency, including planning for hazards.
