Larimer County is looking for a Planner II to join the Community Development team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced planner who likes working on a variety of project types, including both development review and long-range planning.
This Planner II position will take on more challenging and complex development review projects as well as work on long range planning initiatives. The Planner II will provide customer service regarding general information related to zoning and development review processing to the public via telephone, front counter and/or e-mail communications.
The ideal candidate will have strong project management skills to assist with and manage a variety of land use projects. The Planner II will work with applicants and property owners; coordinate with other divisions, outside agencies, and service providers; prepare staff reports and resolutions for land use applications; and attend meetings and make presentations to the Planning Commission, Board of Adjustment, and Board of County Commissioners. This position will also work on a variety of long-range planning projects, code amendments, and other special projects.
Equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Urban Planning or a related field is required; Equivalent to a Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Urban Planning or a related field is preferred.
3 years of progressively responsible experience in urban planning or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities is required; public sector planning experience is highly desirable.
Possession of, or ability to obtain AICP certification within 1 year of hire is required.
