Performing a variety of administrative, professional, supervisory and technical work in carrying out the planning, zoning, and building activities for the City of Riverton. Supervising enforcement of various zoning, building, plumbing, mechanical, electrical and construction codes. Implementing and modifying City general plan, master plans and programs related to current and long-term planning and/or code compliance.
Completion of college course work at the Bachelor’s level in urban planning or closely related field, plus three to five years progressively responsible work experience as a planning director or similar work related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. AICP certification or ability to obtain is preferred. Other training and experience will be evaluated for relevance to assignment in this position.
Thorough knowledge of zoning, planning and land use, including considerable knowledge of economic, geographic and demographic factors involved in municipal planning and community development. Skill in the operation of GIS/CAD; skill in the operation of a computer system, including word processing, spreadsheets and databases. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external customers; ability to read and understand complicated plans, blueprints, codes and regulations; and knowledge of construction techniques and specifications; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Knowledge of International Building codes, electrical codes, and fire codes to a level necessary to affect oversight of the building inspector function of the City of Riverton, as well as considerable knowledge of applicable ordinance and codes; considerable knowledge of drafting principles and practices.
The annual salary range for this position is $65,873 - $91,285 depending on education and experience; and includes a generous benefits package. This position is an FLSA Exempt, at-will position.
