Urban Planner in Red Lodge, MT (Open until filled)

Registration: AICP or ability to obtain

Position Status: Full time


As a planner, you will provide support for project management and planning work through assisting with projects focusing on planning policy. This role involves guiding and tracking projects in the planning phase; growing your technical skills by achieving team goals in conjunction with all team members and the direction of the planning director; providing project specific planning services such as, comprehensive planning documents, master plans, zoning documents, and active transportation plans; engaging in strengthening relationships with clients by maintaining planning standards, best practices, and procedures; contributing to the firm through promotional and strategic efforts of the organization. This person will also perform entry level to intermediate professional level planning and zoning work; collecting, organizing, analyzing, and evaluating data pertaining to the zoning; and development review process.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Planning or related field, Masters Preferred
  • Strong capabilities in document and project presentations, including technical skills working with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Acrobat, as well as Microsoft PowerPoint as specifically related to public policy document preparation
  • CAD / Sketch-up skills preferred
  • Technical knowledge of planning principles and practices
  • Experience with ArcGIS
  • Willingness to take direction
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team atmosphere
  • Good driving record and valid driver’s license
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
