We started this mobile tour by riding on the Deadwood Trolleys from the hotel to the Sanford Lab Homestake Visitor Center. Upon arrival at the Sanford Lab Homestake Visitor Center in Lead, SD, the tour viewed the open cut; heard a bit about the history of Lead and the reincarnation of the underground mining operations into the Sanford Underground Lab.

After the Visitors Center, we took a short walk up the street to see the reincarnation of Main Street of the City of Lead--some things are happening and some are not!

After lunch, the tour came into Deadwood from Lead down the newly re-done Hwy 85 corridor, a three year project that redid much of the street; a beautiful walking path; parking area and bathrooms at Puma-a trail head for the Mickelson Trail.

We drove past the Deadwood Mountain Grand, down Main street of Deadwood and ended at the newly opened City of Deadwood Visitor Center.
