The Lasting Legacy of the Western Planner Conference will be hosted in 2010 by the Planning Association of Washington (PAW) in Vancouver, Washington, on August 10 -13, 2010. Vancouver is located on the north bank of the Columbia River directly across from Portland, Oregon. The Pacific Coast is less than 90 miles to the west. The Cascade Mountain Range rises on the east. Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument, Mt. Adams (Gifford Pinchot National Forest), and Mt. Hood (National Forest) are less than two hours away. The spectacular Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area lies to the immediate east.
Overlooking the Columbia River, the Red Lion Hotel, Vancouver at the Quay, offers free parking, free shuttle from Portland International Airport, free wireless Internet, rooms that contain both refrigerator and microwave, and is within a short walk from downtown shops and restaurants. The Red Lion Hotel is located at 100 Columbia Street in Vancouver. Starting in November 2009, rooms will be available, and conference room rates are likely to be within the $80–$100 per night range.
